Travel by car into Berlin on this road & you'll see the strange sight of an abandoned grandstand and the former art deco control tower which now serves as a motel.Plans to revamp the race track didn't work out but it's classified as a national monument .( a listed building )
Europe's 1st custom built motorway , completed in 1921 plus a racing circuit it has an amazing history .The last race was in 1999. Quite an event .Looking at the grandstand you can almost hear cheering.
The whole area is historically linked with my May 9th entry so have decided to add today's image to DS88 hosted by  Marlieske .
