Newt in a puddle

On a beautiful sunny day we took the Bealach Walk from Killicrankie over Bealach na Searmoin (Pass of the Sermon) to Moulin, and back by a forest track below Craigower.

It's a favourite of ours, and I don't know why it has been so long since we last did it. This was the first time starting at Killiecrankie and in this direction. It has great views all the way round, and no sermons (unless you want one).

This time, the highlight of the walk was not a view, but a puddle on the track. It's a large and more or less permanent puddle, and it contained at least seven newts, as well as pond skaters and circling bees.

I'm using my extras with abandon at the moment. This one is a poem at the start of the walk (with Mrs P in the background):
Be you Goin', or be you comin'
Be you man, or be you women,
Be you early, or be you late,
See you mind an' shut the GATE.
