Mono Monday . . . Impromptu

I thought this was going to be a difficult theme until this Weka entered the garden.  I was pulling weeds and enjoying the sunshine.  It gave me a start.  I didn't have my camera when it had an impromptu bath in the bird bath.  I snuck up the other side of the house and got the camera.  I didn't think it would look as good in mono but it does.  I like it among these weeds.  It is a brown flightless bird and quite common in this area.  It pokes its beak into the soil and snips off the odd flower.  I think it has soil and bits of plant on its beak.  I suppose it was enjoying the sunshine like me.
