Whitbarrow

Another beautiful cloudless day. We went up to Whitbarrow again to repeat the butterfly transects. And we were rewarded with the first Pearl Bordered Fritillaries!
Strolling back down to the car we nearly stepped on this large slow-worm slithering across the path. It paused for a moment, then disappeared into the grass. First on I have seen for many years so a great sight.
