Croome Court

We went to see Chris and Jean in their refurbished house in Wadborough, Worcestershire. According to Wikithing although the population is only about 200 there used to be a railway station, opened in 1841 and closed in 1965.

The place, named in the doomsday book as Wadberge, meaning a place on a hill where they produced woad. Apparently woad dye production was normally situated a few miles outside of towns, in this case four miles from Pershore, the Abbey owning most of the land, due to the offensive smells it produced.

Luckily this has now ceased.

After a cup of tea we went to Croome Court, the National Trust property not too far away, for a spot of lunch and a walk with their dog, Pudding (who doesn't look anything like a pudding).  The place was pretty busy, it being a nice day, but there is plenty of room there.

The picture shows a recent 'house' built around a tree? See extra also.
