Morelia

We spent a tourist day walking Morelia's historic centro. According to the many maps on display, in both Spanish and English, there are over a dozen churches within a ten block radius of the main basilica. We visited, and I photographed, a sizable number of them on our walkabout, but certainly not all. I don't remember which one this was, but I really liked the splashing water on the fountain and the two people on the steps. Made for a pleasing composition I thought. Just like Pátzcuaro the day before, Morelia seems to be undergoing a bit of a transformation. Everything seemed cleaner and better repaired than on our previous visit. It may have been because our visit to coincided with a city-wide art and cultural fair or it may be because Mexicans are, I think, becoming more affluent and taking greater pride in what they have to offer visitors, both foreign and domestic. Now if they could only get their graffiti problem under control.
