Henley's Grave

I went up there this evening.  It wasn't late and the sun was still high, but it was a peaceful place because the church and graveyard are quite remote, where William Ernest Henley is buried, along with his wife and his young daughter.

I always find the inscription affecting:

"So be my passing!
My task accomplish'd and the long day done,
My wages taken, and in my heart
Some late lark singing,
Let me be gather'd to the quiet west,
The sundown splendid and serene,
Death."
