Eyelash fungus

Debs found these rather attractive little fungi in a pot on her balcony the other day and very kindly brought them in to work so I could photograph them.
Although the term 'Eyelash fungus' sounds like something to do with the eyes best avoided, it is actually a very attractive little fungus with hair like edges that look like eyelashes!
The eyelash fungus Scutellinia scutellata, is tiny at only a few mm across each orangy red cup and often overlooked. It is however quite prolific and common, and well worth looking out for in damp places from June into the autumn.
Despite being a common fungus, this is the first time I have ever seen it, another tick on my list - yipee!
