Ciao Italia

As our flight wasn’t until the evening, today we were able to enjoy the gentle shade of the hotel garden which was surrounded by olive groves . There were hammocks as well as the usual seating to choose from but tempting though they were,I thought an undignified exit from them might not be ‘a good look’ ! The hotel had once been a monastery perched on the hill overlooking Sorrento and the Bay of Naples - it was very hard to leave .:))

We visited The Museum of ‘Intarsia ‘ - inlaid wood which a Sorrento is renowned for . It had a historical perspective as Sorrento first featured on the ‘ Grand Tour ‘ so many scenes were of classical Sorrento . The craftmenship was impressive but unfortunately we were not allowed to photograph in there . The craft still carries on though the traditional tools are not used as much . There were some stunning modern pieces too.

Finally after the flight we arrived home at about 3:0 am on Saturday morning. Zzzzzzz............
