'And they're off!'

It was Relay Day at the British Orienteering Championships today in the woodland of Torphantrick east of Ballater.  Tony's M60 team finished in 4th place and my W50 team (there weren't enough of us 60+ to run our correct class) came in 6th place, so we were both pleased.  The woodland had plenty of brashings on the ground but it was interesting terrain with drumlin moraine which meant you had to focus to keep in touch with the map and ground, good fun!

The first runners from each team in each class go off in a mass start and this is the subject of my blip.

After the event and the prize giving we drove north to the Moray Firth and we are now comfortably ensconced in Rosebay Cottage in Findhorn.  We have stayed here twice before when we've attended the Scottish Six Day Event but there is no orienteering now until the Scottish Champs next weekend so we intend to have a relaxed, easy week exploring locally.  Hopefully I'll get back to commenting this week too!
