1304. MM226....Trio

These medals are affectionately known as “Pip, Squeak and Wilfred”....more about them here....http://www.greatwar.co.uk/medals/ww1-campaign-medals.htm

They are part of a collection my hubby has at home and he’s always happy for me to photograph them!
He’s very interested in military history and we do a lot of battlefield tours so he’s a mine of information but thought I’d add this to my entry for Mono Monday....on this day .....William George Hayman from Devon died in 1916 having only gone to France on the 9th March 1916 and he was only 20 years old...his family would probably have received Squeak and Wilfred....a sad loss of a very young life....and a poignant reminder of the futility of war.....

Thanks to MerilHope for hosting....
