Making the most

With a whole day ahead of us (and our full deposit back along with an real apology), we decided we had time to head north first. We caught the ferry over to the island of La Maddalena which was where we would have cycled had we not cut our windy ride short earlier in the week. (This is a view from the island with Corsica in the background which has brought back lots of memories from one of Rich and my first adventures on the GR20.)

It's worked out perfectly.  We basically drove the route.  It was a bit harder to stop and ooo and ahh at the view but we managed a few lay-bys with wide aqua sea vistas over rocky bays.

Best of all, we found our first cafe that catered for gluten free; al fresco and by the sea. Heaven!  I'm sick of talking about it really but it does make you realise how key food is on a holiday full of burning calories.

We then made our way back to Olbia and, with a few more hours to enjoy, we found the old town and made room for more coffee and ice cream before finding the airport.

Expecting a delay, we were very pleased to discover we were boarding on time and took off into the sunset.

We've had mixed weather, it's true,  but a bit of flexibility here and there has meant we've had a really enjoyable week on a very pretty island.

There's so much still to explore but I will need to forget about the mozzie bites and eating quests before heading back here.
