Pollarded tree...

Everyone was upset when these trees had to be felled because they were unstable and dangerous. But a few years later they may be small but they look glorious.
I remember when I lived in Clun opposite the church there that someone pollarded some of the Yew trees outside the door of the church. There was uproar because these were reputed to be among the oldest in Britain; something like 3,000 years old. But very soon they were rejuvenated and were sprouting fresh growth.
I believe these trees were planted just after the Occupation so not yet 100; mere saplings...
