Leaving

MrsDroog and I have had a wonderful time in the Netherlands, but now we have to go back to the UK. Neither of us is overjoyed at the thought.

Waiting for the transfer coach to Europoort we encountered the inevitable crowd of drunken Brits, who swore and sang and shouted during the entire journey. I apologized for their behaviour to the driver, who was glad to be rid of them. Increasingly, I feel ashamed of my nationality.

Now we are leaving harbour and watching the Netherlands recede. Goodbye, SS Rotterdam. Goodbye, lovely, friendly, civilised Dutch friends old and new. It will be too long before we see you again. Tot ziens.
