Market Ramblings

The contrast between this curled, dried leaf and the juicy, ripe apples at the farmers' market this morning instantly appealed to me.

It might have been my subconscious at work, as a friend's 95-year-old mother peacefully passed away on Thursday, and this week I'll be doing an informal portrait series of another friend in the last weeks of her first pregnancy.

I was delighted to see the first of this year's very local honey, displayed with a map delineating the bees' foraging area. (The red "A" marker is pinned on Bellingham.) I bought a jar for us to enjoy and another to give as a holiday present.

And one more market photo -- sartorial diversity and an eagerly-awaited autumn delicacy.
