For a bit of exercise today...

... I was persuaded to climb a hill, in the countryside (not something I do normally).

We climbed Beamsley Beacon, which is just over 1000ft above sea level and on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Originally thought to have marked a bronze age burial site, it also featured in an 1816 painting by J M W Turner 'Grouse Shooting at Beamsley Beacon'.

The blip image shows one of the spectacular views, looking down on the A59 road with Bolton Abbey Steam Railway station visible upper left and the Devonshire Arms Hotel in the right foreground, with the site of Bolton Abbey off the picture to the right.

Today's extras include a panoramic shot from the beacon, the beacon itself and a picture of yours truly, which wasn't taken for publication..
