Clovelly

First day of our holiday exploring the coast of North Devon. We found a circular walk from Brownsham via the coastal path and Black Church Rock to Clovelly. A really enjoyable walk leaving us some energy for the precipitous climb down through the cobbled streets of Clovelly to the harbour.

In this photo you may notice the wooden sledges which are used to deliver supplies to the houses and cafes in the village. Lots of visitors many taking advantage of pit stops on the way back up the slope.

Couldn’t resist the extra showing the raised banks and trees forming an arch over the road on our way to the walk. A painting by David Hockney of a similar arch on the Yorkshire Wolds came to mind.

Thanks for all your comments for yesterday’s butterfly.
