The Air Conditioning Lover

Spring is turning into summer, and we've already had some toasty days in the mid-80s. One such day last week, my husband and I brought two air conditioners up from the garage. The one, we immediately installed in the living room window to provide us with blessed relief. The other, we sat in the bedroom on the floor.

The temps have settled down a bit since then, and I am reluctant to lose one of my bedroom windows for looking out of. So we've been holding off on putting the second A/C unit in until we really can't take it anymore. We put a blanket on top of the air conditioner so we wouldn't bump into any sharp edges in the meantime. When it gets hot, I feel better even just seeing it sitting there, ready for duty.

Dexter is a big fan of air conditioning. He doesn't understand the workings of it, of course. (Come on, he's a CAT.) But he knows that it's a magic machine that turns too-hot air into sweet and refreshing coolness. How much better can it get than that?

Dexter climbed on top of the air conditioner, and my husband gave him one of his toy mousies to play with (you may see it between his paws). Look at Dexter's face, as he turns to us beseechingly: "Turn it on, Mama, turn on the Magic Machine that Makes the Colds." Silly boy, we have to install it in the window and plug it in, first. But this is a good start!

The song: Little River Band, with Cool Change.
