CannyScot's Day

Murroes Church, Angus

A beautiful, sunny day.

A busy day, getting things fixed. I took my wife's bike into a Cycle Repair Shop in town who fixed it very quickly. I fixed the lawnmower when the blades somehow came apart and also a strimmer which had got stuck.

We went out for a lovely meal in the evening and on the way home went to the nearby Murroes Church where I took this Blip.

Murroes and Tealing Parish Church was built in 1848 by William Scott on the site of a much older ecclesiastical building. The earliest date for a church here is 1211 when Gilchrist, Earl of Angus, granted the church to Arbroath Abbey. There are a number of carved stones from the earlier church (or churches) incorporated into the 19th century church, and an original burial vault from the earlier building survives.
