Exchanging roles

One advantage of flying direct from Auckland to London and getting little sleep on the way, especially arriving as late in the day as we did (1530), is that one is very ready for sleep when the time comes to do so. Although still tired we were okay to get going and do some things in Glastonbury.

We started with a walk up Thorn Hill. Two “paths”, of mown grass; one straight up, the other more direct to the stump of the Thorn tree. Chose the second, and it was probably more difficult than the straight up because of the sideways slope. At the top we saw the Thorn Tree festooned with ribbons. A guide arrived shortly afterwards with his one client and sat and gave her a lesson, some of which I also heard.

Walked down a different way into the town centre. Down a short alley we saw the entry to St Margaret’s Chapel, and Magdalene almshouses. The first extra is the interior of one of the houses. Better than being on the street.

Next stop was the Abbey. Which is a very interesting walk around plus the museum. My second extra is of wildflowers which have colonized an empty window.

A restful afternoon, then dinner at an Italian restaurant. Where I got my blip. And we had lovely food accompanied by a Pinot Grigio.
