A Meandering Life...

Temples...

to God, Man and Beasts.

Our second stop of the day, after visiting a little coffee shack, was to the Transfiguration of Our Lord Russian Church at Nililchik. My Blip also shows the volcano Mount Iliamna in the background. The church has commanding views over the bluff, village of Nililchik and the sea. Today there is a road leading to it from the main highway in the past villagers needed to climb up the bluff...

We are now in Homer, on the Spit to be precise. My first extra is the inside of the infamous Salty Dawg Saloon. It was a very brief stop just to get this snap. You could cut the smell of beer and dollar bills with a knife.

My final extra is of one of the locals we came to visit. This Bald eagle has made its lookout on the roof of our campsite office. There doesn’t seem to be as many eagles this year. What we have seen tonight were a couple of large ‘rafts’ of sea otters floating off the coast. Too far to get a good photo but we counted about 12 in one group and over 20 in the other.

This was one of our goals/hopes for this trip. Grizzlies, baby moose and now a raft of otters. Our daughters have added unicorns to our list. That might be a little harder...

Tomorrow we have another adventure planned.
