Tuscany

A couple of classic Tuscan views today.

After a slightly abortive trip to see the famous frescos in the basilica in Arezzo we headed for the hilltop town of Montepulciano in the heart of the Tuscany countryside.

The problem with the frescos was that we found we needed to buy a timed ticket and we didn't have time.   However,  after coffee in a bar opposite the basilica and considerable moaning about jobsworths Jane noticed that people were crowding round a door where we discovered you could get quite a good free view of the said artworks.   I think she may put it as an extra.

After Montepulciano we headed south through gorgeous Tuscan countryside with the classic views of cypress lined farmsteads.  I have blipped a couple which I liked.

The weather has improved this afternoon - Yay!  Now in a nice campsite by a lake north of Rome.  We will have to do some serious driving in the next two days to reach our goal of Sicily.
