Monte Cassino

After a long drive we are now about 50 miles south of Salerno in a nice campsite on a beach by the sea.   We are going to stay here for 2 nights because we reckon we have earned some R&R.  Its one day's drive to the crossing to Sicily.

On the way here we stopped at the Monte Cassino monastery.  Jane's uncle received a citation here in WW2 when it was subject to several allied assaults and terrible loss of life.
