Vulcano

Backblip day 2 of our trip to the Eifel.

The theme of our secons day was the part of the Eifel with a lot of vulcano relicts. Xaver was climbing on big lava rocks.
There is also a very big so called lava bomb (Strohn)
"The lava bomb is a basalt globe formed by volcanic activity. It has a diameter of some five metres and a weight of more than 120 metric tons. It formed not through a single expulsion from the volcanic vent, but rather by being shot upwards several times and then sliding back down into the crater, getting a new coating of lava and cinder each time until it got stuck at the edge of the crater and cooled permanently. It came to light in 1969 during blasting at a quarry on the volcanic cone, and in the winter of 1980 and 1981 was towed on an iron plate over a compacted layer of snow with a bulldozer into the village centre." (Wikipedia)
Another vulcanic attraction is a cold water gayser in Wallenborn. It is errupting about every 30 minutes.
We also visited so called Maare, the smaler Holzmaar and the bigger Lake Laach. They are also vulcanic. It's a pity that swimming is prohibited :-(
Because I want to swim with Omo since years and I've never an opportunity (dogs are not allowed in lakes, how silly is that) we found a lake in the internet with a special dogs beach. So we drove many kilometers to get there only to realize that the dogs are allowed on the beach, but not in the water.... Frustrating!
On our way we found some lovely villages, for example Monreal at the Eltz.
(second extra)
So wee had a very interesting day. Because of a useless internet in the holiday home I coudn't host TiPS21. Please have a look at my entry from Saturday :-)
Please remember that the tag for Tiny People Sunday/week/month in the whole June is TiPS22 or TiPSJune18. I'm looking forward of many entries. You can tag as many as you like. Have fun!
