Cousins

We were invited to a seventieth birthday party today.  It was for my Godmother's son, Stanley.   My godmother, Olive, on the left as you look at this image, is my mother's first cousin on her mother's side and they spent much of their childhood together.  I was pleased to be able to get this shot of the two cousins together.  Olive is now in a beautiful car home and will be 94 later this year.  She found today quite difficult as there were a lot of people there but she was able to return to her room when she wanted to as the care home as a garden room which families can use for celebrations.  It was very comfortable and the food from outside caterers was excellent.  There were beautiful gardens and woods for the great grandchildren (various) to run around in.  It was a lovely afternoon.  Mom found it very confusing though.  She thought that everyone, from those in their thirties to old people may have been at school with her and couldn't comprehend that she was probably 40 or 50 years older than a lot of the people there.  Consequently, when she got home she was very tired and very moody.  We had a difficult time, but coaxed her through it.  A shame the afternoon had to end that way.

The owner of the care home has several homes and was a local solicitor.  He has a jazz band, and a car collection which is housed in the building you can see in the extra.  You can see three of his collection in the extra too.  I wonder how he made his money...
