Rocks at Kippford, Solway Firth

In the far distance the barely discernable wind turbines of Robinrigg Sandbank skirt the horizon. Rough Island (on the right) is a NTS nature reserve for oystercatchers and ringed plovers.  The island can be accessed on foot at low tide. However in May and June when the birds are nesting on the ground it is forbidden. Extra: Seashells at Kippford
Kippford stretches along the banks of the Urr Estary and in places is only one house wide, being hemmed in between forested Mark Hill and the sea.
