The Old and the New

I've blipped the quayside before and often those old heavyweight iron mooring rings feature in the picture.  They are a remnant from the days when cargo ships, smaller, driven by sail, and with shallower draught,  moored in the centre of town.  Now the cargo ships are largely gone and the few that are left use the aptly named "Deep Water Harbour".
They have been replaced by leisure boats, which have different requirements.  During the winter the quayside walkway was renewed, extended and modernised. These posts provide electricity and water to the moored boats.  The new mooring points look decidely flimsy compared to the old!
