Learning day by day

Paul Heaton

Wow today was busy. C was doing a rhythmic gym display at the school fair followed by a ballet display with her local school. Meanwhile Will went to orchestra and then we had to have him in church for his communion celebration at 12noon. He had been adamant that he wanted to go to the celebration, but when we got there he wanted to be at the school fair. A fairly miserable 90mins plus ensued!

Come 4pm Carys and I left the school fair, changed and headed to Thetford Forest for her birthday present, Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott in concert. We were on the guest list so picked up tickets at the box office for us and the deputy from school and her boyfriend. Once in C and I headed for the front passing Johnny and Pete the guitarist and bass player, so she ended up with their autographs! We were then met by Mr and Mrs Pink (so it was a mini blip meet) and found ourselves one row back from the front.

Billy Bragg was the support act. Carys always listens to lyrics closely, so some of the songs threw up some interesting questions and at one point, during a song about Trump, she turned round and said "Mummy he is using very powerful language, and I don't mean his swearing!". I do love her, and she was correct.

Jacqui and Paul were fantastic as ever. Carys loved them. The fans we were surrounded by were also fantastic, they had clocked Carys and sang the clean version of Don't Marry Her, so she was unaware of the swear word in it. She was brave enough to ask a steward at the end if she could have a set list from the stage and was rewarded with the one that had been below Paul's microphone. (see the additional photo)

A very late night home, particularly as went to the wrong car park initially! but we both had a fantastic time. Luckily Will was at N&P's for a sleep over so there was no worry of waking him when we came home.
