Bodge It, Bodge It and B***** It

Our old BBQ, which has starred a number of times doing our spit roasts, has seen better days.  Recently I have not been able to shut the vent.  “Why do you want to shut the vent when you cook with the lid open?” you may well ask.  Well being very mean I like to close off the BBQs after cooking so that the charcoals go out and I can use them next time.

The whole of the area around the vent had rusted through, so skin flint here had a brain wave – find a bit of metal to rivet over the hole.  What bit of metal is there cheaper than an empty baked beans can?

These things just don’t last these days.  We bought that BBG when we moved to Bicester and we were only there seven years, and we moved here only fifteen years ago – no time at all . . .   Mind you we bought this one at the same time.
