Port Charlotte at night in the rain

Rather a miserable grey day. Some German documentary makers stopped by and I talked to camera for an hour or so about how the distilleries have changed as whisky has become more popular during the past 20 years. Looking back to the sad old days when the Port Charlotte Hotel was derelict and Bruichladdich Distillery mothballed (and basically derelict...). Amazing to think how far we have all come. The Distillery and the hotel between them now employ around 80 people on Islay. That's progress....
Ardbeg was shut back then too - and Kilchoman did not exist. We were served by one small ferry which came three times a day, except Wednesdays when it came twice, and Sundays when it came just the once...
