Our local independent grocer has shelves stocking South African and British 'goodies' for the hills community who like to indulge in a taste of their history.

As a geo in Namibia in the 70s and stocking up with 'rations' for self contained trips into the bush or to permanent camps in the desert, 'mealie pap' (maize porridge) and cans of jam were a basic.
