Water

Seems Hurrican Sandy is the storm that just won't stop screwing with us. Last night we get a call from our town's emergency information line that our water treatment plant has been compromised due to a generator failure. The generator was the backup from the power failure due to the storm.
So the seven towns that are effected by this have to 'immediately store as much water as possible' which includes filling your tubs, buckets, pots etc so that we can wash, flush, and cook with water. We had only hours before the water pressure was turned off.
All water that is used for drinking, cooking or even brushing your teeth has to be boiled. They advised you don't even open your mouth when showering and home water filtration systems are not adequate enough to filter the microbes from the water.
We filled everything we had, sent the kids to buy bottled water for drinking and waited for further word that things were back to normal. So far, we are still boiling water.
Oh and as if mother nature is intentially trying to push our buttons here on the east coast, another storm is due tomorrow. This time with colder temperatures and snow in the forecast. It's a nor'easter and is a type of storm has characteristics similar to a hurricane. Nor'easters can cause severe coastal flooding, coastal erosion, hurricane force winds. Just perfect. *sigh* Let's hope our water is back before the lights go out again!
