My Best Efforts - Year 3

Wild Teasels..................

...............or to be posh - Dipsacus fullonum. Prior to the 20th century, these were used to raise the nap on fabrics, particularly wool. Dried heads were attached to what were called Teasel frames but by the 20th century, these were replaced by metal cards. Having said that, some people still use the natural ones as, if a teasel meets resistance in a piece of cloth it will break, a metal tool would rip the fabric.
In everyday use, teasels are used in floral decorations - either as they are or sprayed gold, silver or any colour desired by the florist.
I thought these looked rather nice against the background of the stubble in the field.

Weather started off very bright with hardly a cloud in the sky -not so now, as usual this week, clouds are building up again.
