A Celebration of Flowers by Kaffe Fassett with Candace Bahouth, Victoria Art Gallery, Bath

“Internationally renowned colour expert and fabric designer Kaffe Fassett makes a welcome return to Bath. He has been associated with the city since the 1960s when he moved to England from San Francisco.

Inspired by flowers all his life, Fassett will demonstrate his full creative flair in this stunning new exhibition. With a bespoke dazzling colour scheme to match, the installation will transform the Gallery using 40 of his vibrant coloured quilts and needlepoints.

The show will also feature colourful mosaiced island gardens, benches, totems, mirror frames, shoes, flower encrusted candlesticks and a chandelier by one of Fassett’s long-term collaborators, fellow American Candace Bahouth, who is based in Somerset. Many of these works are on a large scale and extend the floral theme into three dimensions.” www.victoriagal.org.uk

Into Bath this morning to meet my BC friend to visit the latest exhibition at Victoria Art Gallery, and what an exhibition it was! Flowers and colour everywhere!! I’ve been a fan of Kaffe Fassett’s work for a long time, but Candace Bahouth was a new artist for me. My main photo shows part of one of Bahouth’s amazing works, with the gallery and Fasset’s quilts reflected in the mirror. If, like me, you love colour and flowers, then do take a peek at my extras. The first one is a collage I created out of nine of Fassett’s gorgeous quilts, and the second shows a very fancy pair of shoes, definitely not made for walking!
