Between fen and mountains

Sweet tooth

I had a house call out towards Wisbech today which made for a pleasant excursion only spoilt by the usual getting stuck behind tractors and giant agricultural machines. On the way I passed what could be mistaken for an early neolithic long barrow. Archeological excavation indicates that the construction of the earth barrow was the last phase in a complex sequence connected with the ritual inhumation of the dead that took place in British society between around 4000 and 2400 BC. However, the more observant of you will have noticed that this is in fact a long pile of sugar beet waiting to be taken to the refinery.
