Levelling

We decided the slope was too much for the new boat tent to really sit stable. However, making the ground level would be a huge job, so we compromised, digging away the upper side and moving the earth to the lower side to reduce the slope as much as possible. Even so that meant building a retaining wall on the lower side, which we did using metal sheets and large stones.
The digging and raking was not helped by the presence of many roots, but a lot of tugging and cutting dealt with those. Finally the job was finished and as rain was forecast (correctly, it turned out) we covered the raw earth with the old roof from the Red House. This is going to form the floor of the boat tent anyway.
The next stage is putting up the frame and the tent but that'll have to wait as Friday is the official Midsummer Eve and celebrations are prioritised, even if it is going to rain!
PS The "real" Midsummer Eve was yesterday and the longest day was today but Sweden decided years ago it was more efficient if the celebrations were always on the Friday/Saturday closest to Midsummer.
