Tossa de Mar, Costa Brava

Backblip

The trip out today was to Tossa de Mar, one of the prettiest towns on the Costa Brava (or so the guide book said.)  We chose to take the coastal, scenic route, not realising it was one of the most hair-raising roads in Spain with one hairpin bend after another.  Rocks on one side often jutting out into the road and a sheer drop on the other side down cliffs to the sea.  We were so lucky it wasn't too busy as I'd hate to do that drive in the high season!  We were very grateful for the driving skills of our son-in-law:-)

We were all very relieved when we arrived safely in Tossa de Mar and found a lovely little beach called Cala Pola close to the famous castle (see Extras).  I was disappointed not to get the shot of the castle from the other shore, but we got a glimpse of it driving down that road and didn't dare stop!

Tossa de Mar seemed really busy after the quieter beaches near where we were staying and it was full of Brits on holiday or possibly living there, so didn't have the same Spanish feel to it.  Glad to have visited, but won't go back!
