A lily far from home

Today I was sentenced to hard labour in the garden. The result is that all I have to offer is another flower,  this time a cultivar of the tiger lily Lilium columbianum which is native to western North America.

One thing that I remember from my O level in bible studies is that Solomon was exceptionally fond of lilies. Thus we read in the Song of Solomon: 


"Thy navel is like a round goblet, which wanteth not liquor: thy belly is like an heap of wheat set about with lilies." (1769 King James Bible).
