Cat’s ear

Our lawn has sprouted lots of spindly yellow flowers this summer. We keep mowing them down, but back they come. They’re very pretty in a wild, sunny sort of way, but they’re weeds really. Apparently they’re Hypochaeris radicata, also known as flatweed, cat's-ear, hairy cat's ear or false dandelion. Apparently they’re edible, but I’m not tempted to try.
