From the Royal Gorge Train

Our trip on the Royal Gorge Train was a late addition as we couldn't go on the Durango to Silverton Railway yesterday.  It runs on a reconstructed line through the gold mining territory on the banks of the Arkansas river by Cañon in Colorado (Many miles from Arkansas).  It was an interesting trip and included a good lunch of a Bison Burger.  Very tasty.   The Royal Gorge is very narrow in places and is ideal for white water rafting and kayaking.  It also has some interesting remnants of days of yore when an enterprising individual decided it would be a good idea to create a wooden water pipe all the way through the Gorge, using the techniques employed by barrel makers.  You can see from this shot, taken from the train, that the pipe has not stood the test of time...

We are in Denver now, and will be heading into the Rocky Mountain National Park expecting very different weather.  And guess what, we have a lie in tomorrow.  Cases don't have to be out until 6.30am.

Thank you all for your comments.  I am glad you are liking some of the interesting things we are seeing.
