horns of wilmington's cow

Cracking day with a good bunch. The 14 mile hike went surprisingly quickly, completed juuuust as I could feel a couple of blisters coming.

It was a thought to be getting on a bike after that for 56 miles with a couple of big hills thrown in. But we stuck together as a team in the main, nursing one member through a 10 mile headwind.

Until the last climb. We sort of decided to stop and meet again at the last food stop, and that’s all I needed. Climbed passing people and feeling good. I got ahead again on the big descent (seems I have less speed-fear), then we covered the last 2.5 miles as one unit again.

The other parts of our team (doing the walk only) were ready and waiting with beer, and we passed the next couple of hours lazing in the sun and the glory of a job well done.

And in the process raised about £5000 for Richmond’s Hope. Which was the main thing really.
