The Morning After

The evening of the 23rd into the 24th of June resembles a war zone in Barcelona as everyone buys tons of fireworks and crackers to celebrate the summer solstice. The larger ones explode like bombs and we pull in the awnings in case a stray rocket sets them alight!

This is the nearby, to us, dappled Avenida Josep Tarradellas this morning. 27 years ago this was a wide swathe of sandy dirt on which everyone including ourselves parked their cars free of charge. There was not a tree in site. Now the cars are in three levels of car parking which stretch underneath the entire avenue almost.
