Spot Metering...

I just found the Spot Metering option on my compact camera. I think it's got a different name on my SLR which is odd because they're both Canon.

Never really understood or found a good explanation of what it does but the beauty of my compact is that as you change options, the viewfinder preview of the shot automatically changes to show you an approximation of how it will turn out. Pretty clever and useful for learning as well.

I may have to experiment with the exposure options on the big camera.
