All Change (5)

End of Part One: Today the new gas fire and fireplace have been installed; that marks the end of the first phase of the alterations. It is far from finished but the next thing to happen is building cupboards and shelves into the alcoves, and that won't happen until November at the earliest due to our carpenter being in high demand. Then we can get the decorator in, and finally we can lay the new carpet. But in the meantime it is nice to get the room back, even if there is a stretch of bare concrete floor at one end and bare plaster on the walls. I'll be getting rid of the TV base in the next day or so and replacing it with a discreet wall bracket and sound bar. I suppose it's a bit ironic to be installing a fire on the hottest day of the year so far!

But before all that happened, the builder came round to finish off and brought round a grab lorry to get rid of all the rubble, as we couldn't get a skip delivered due to the narrow side lane. I've added an extra; amazing the precision that the man operating the grab had!

The latest in my series charting the alterations tagged 'New Gas Fire'.
