At Manchester University, the plaque reads:

'Boulder weighing over 20 tons, found in glacial drift 28 feet below the surface at the corner of Oxford Road and Ducie Street, Manchester. A section of the excavation is displayed in the Manchester Museum, Department of Geology. This boulder, consisting of ancient lava (andesite), was carried by ice from its origin, Borrowdale, Lake District, during the Great Ice Age.'
