Alhambra Garden

We were all up early.
Tim, Adele and our grandsons (after staying overnight ) had to get back to the Calder Valley for the boys to get to school on time.
We too were out early to drive through the rush hour in Leeds to go for Mr P’s appointment at The Bexley Wing.
We arrived in good time and were soon seen by the trials unit to go through the usual routine : bloods taken, unused medication returned, the diary we have to keep discussed and exchanged for a new one.
There was also a rather long wellbeing questionnaire ( part two) to complete as part of the research trial.
The first part we had filled in at the start of the infusions and neither of us could remember our response back then.
So we couldn’t tell if the response was different.
Bloods were soon checked in the lab and we saw the consultant who looks after Mr P.
What a wonderful man he is, so kind and caring and always gives us as much time we need to ask questions
After being examined and discussing the lab results we were told that Mr P doesn’t have to come back for two months and that we could have the medication for that long too.
As we’ve been at the hospital frequently for the past eight months, this was good news.
The drugs were sent for ( it’s a long procedure) and we went for a coffee and a walk in the grounds while we waited.
It’s a ginormous site!
Once we got medication we could leave so we had only spent the morning there and we had been expecting to be there far longer.
They will be taking some bone marrow in the next two or three months and that will show if and how much this treatment is working.
Not how l’d planned to spend my birthday but l’ve had such a lovely weekend celebrating.
We called in at Roundhay Park on the way home to go sit for a few minutes in the Moorish garden there, (we actually sat on the seat in my photograph ) we talked things over and the came home.
We had been going to go out for a meal but decided to call in to M&S for the dine in for two offer and eat at home with a bit of lazy cooking.
Thank you all for your birthday wishes , l’m behind with replying to your comments but l will thank you all personally, just need a bit of breathing space x
