Quod oculus meus videt

Settling down for Sunset

We're up at Grasmere in the Lake District for a few days.  I was up early and walked up to Alcock Tarn before breakfast, then returning via East Side to Grasmere Village.  Thankfully this was all done in pleasant temperatures as the mercury kept rising through out the day until the car registered 30 degrees centigrade in the afternoon.

We idled the day away, a bit of retail therapy, a short walk, but anything more energetic was off the agenda.  After dinner I popped back out to the lake, waiting for a couple of open water swimmers to finish before getting good reflections across the water.

You're always looking for foreground interest in these types of shots and it was enchanting to find this small group of ducklings, cuddling up together with the mother watching on.  They allowed me to get within a foot or so for this image.  It was a very enjoyable end to the day.
