Picking strawberries . . .

. . . in the sunshine.

After telling everyone yesterday that they should not do anything except sit and read whilst it is so hot, what do we do . . . go out of course.

We headed early towards the North East, stopping at our favourite café on the A66 for breakfast. Then we went Darlington way to pick strawberries and gooseberries - not many people there. We will always be grateful to StuartDB for telling us about this place - excellent it is. (And notice Stuart's fabulous string of pearls picture)

Then we went to IKEA and found hardly anyone there either - the quietest we have ever seen it. I got bookshelves and magnetic boards and a few other things as well. Some concern about whether the shelves would fit in the new car - they did. A quick trip into M&S for a bit of food - we didn't buy strawberries! Then we headed home. We had a couple of other things planned, but it was too hot.

Home . . . and the strawberries are delicious.
