Bye bye

Well MrsCyclops is certainly tired out after this great big day!

CyclopsJnr’s first year at nursery is over, today marks the end of term.  There was cake for a classmate’s birthday and some general merriment and then school was out for summer at 11.45am.

I’m not quite sure whether CyclopsJnr understands about school years and summer holidays and moving up to another room, but he told me yesterday that he ‘wants to stay in Beech Room forever’ and he gave all of the teachers and several of his friends some very sincere goodbye cuddles.

What a fantastic first year it has been, we have found virtually nothing to fault (and believe me we’re capable of it!) and everyone has been so kind and welcoming and warm.

Here is CyclopsJnr with MrsB, his teacher and group Leader.

In August CyclopsJnr will return and move into one of the pre-school classes, and we are very happy that he has another year before school.

So there was an informal gathering of assorted families having lunch at the Botanics after, and as one of CyclopsJnr’s friends was going we went along.  I recall we happened upon one of these affairs from another school a few years back at Lauriston Castle!  Now it is our turn.  They rampaged about for well over two hours in the baking heat.

A swim had been promised, and for once the ‘cold pool’ at Ainslie Park was actually welcome.  So that was another hour of impressive diving for toys and swimming underwater but still not keeping his head out to breathe.

Then Morrisons for provisions.  Decided to take advantage of their ‘kids eat free’ deal in the café which meant we both got a hot meal for a fiver.  Bargain.

Phew.  Home for bed.
