Swish ...

With a beakful of grubs this youngster kept swishing away on the pond for more. The sun was shining and the Avocet chicks at Upton Warren have grown! 

Elegant, nothing gawky just all ploutering (a Yorkshire expression) through the low water and mud to feed. I do love their elegant legs and beaks along with the systematic way they search for food. From just one pair here there appear to be loads so a success for this conservation area.
